Reading the report from Malaysia Today portal on a forum discussing about Article 153, I have nothing but upset on the frequent attempts by certain quarters in trying to confuse the public about special rights of the Malays and Bumipurera. This is not the first time the issue being raised and I strongly belief it will not be the last either. This is how they play the subtle strategy to attack Malay’s intergrity until it causes confusion and later split among them. Then, they will exert they influence to control the Malays. Apparently their strategy has bear fruit when more and more Malay intelectuals are beginning to accept their argument particularly among the moderate and liberal intelectuals. Less do they think about the implication on the Malay and islam.
And as expected, they are using Human Rights to forward their case. And how pity it is when SUHAKAM member, who is suppose to be well educated and well respected person, is backing them. As if they never learn history. Some of us may find logic behind their argument and probably simply concur.
But mind you, this is not what they are targeting at !
They are targeting equality on all aspect including religion. If the Malay compromise on Article 153, then there is no reason to hold argument that we should not compromise on other provision of the constitution. As simple as that. But unfortunately not many Malays realise this. Even when the article was publish in the portal, I belief not many Malays actually rise up and challenge their argument becoz we are too enggrosed with politics. I mean, divisional and emotional politics, politics of hatred; UMNO vs PAS. To the extend that one are willing to slander and defame others. Sadly, both are Malays.
We are not sure who organise this forum and why? But one thing is sure is that they are creating hatred among races in this country, especially among chinese. No wonder DAP is flourishing and its branches mushrooming. The funny part is, they blame everybody except themselves for instilling racism.
Previously not only they attack Malay supremacy, they even claim that Malays are immigrant ! Then they argue that non Malay can also be PM. And now Malay’s rights. We are not sure, what’s next?
They are hiding behind Human Rights as if they never read about HR as define in Cairo Declaration that protect islam. Clearly they are practicing double standard.
Unless Malay Muslim wake up from their deep sleep, I’m worried it is just a matter of time we all become history. Today, nobody dare to say “I am a Malay”. Isn’t that sounds weird in a Malay dominating country? You answer yourself.
In case you miss the writing I make excerpt some of their thoughts for you to ponder :-
– “Article 153 of the Federal Constitution is being used to institutionalise racism in Malaysia, said Human Rights Party adviser N Ganesan.”
– “Ganesan also argued that Article 153 created a “two-tier citizenship” for the Malays and the non-Malays, which was reflected in the New Economic Policy (NEP).”
– “Forum moderator and academic Lim Teck Ghee, however, disagreed that only the Malays benefited from institutionalised racism.”
– “The economic fruits were also taken by the non-Malays who colluded with the system from MIC, MCA and Gerakan,” he said.”
For this people and some Malay liberals, I would like to sum up by quoting what Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Dr Khoo Kay Kim said in an interview with Bernama :
“The people, especially those from other races, should therefore respect the rights and privileges of the Malays as eshrined in the constitution becoz when it was first formulated, the various races had already agreed to what needed to be incorporated in it….the reason why there were groups questioning the rights and privileges of the Malays was becoz the society of today was “blind about history”.
To me, they are not blind but they are, for all intent and purpose, trying to dismantle the Malays and islam until we accept what they aspire us to be ie Malay Muslim Liberals.
